Get your tickets for The Universal Sea: Art Exhibition, Book Launch and Symposium HERE

Made Out of WHAT is a non-profit organization founded to raise awareness about the challenge of industrial and consumer waste by showcasing brilliant, practical solutions from artists and designers around the world.  Through exhibitions, videos, films, educational workshops, and multiple social media platforms, they broadcast true stories of committed human ingenuity and skill found today in design and art from around the world. Similarly, The Universal Sea just launched its first book, a guide to fight the plastic epidemic by presenting solutions from artists, designers, scientists, students from the four corners of the earth.

Teaming up on this special event, the two NGOs will gather together artists, scientists, environmental leaders and activists from around the world to participate in an unprecedented series of events surrounding The Universal Sea art exhibition: a book launch, symposium, dance party and more!

The event will kick off with an art exhibition and book launch of The Universal Sea, Pure or Plastic? The opening party will feature international artists who have transformed consumer waste into powerful visual manifestos, a performance, drinks and hors d’oeuvres, and more.

The exhibition will be open for viewing during Chinatown Summer Nights, an evening of music and dancing on the Central Plaza with food trucks and shopping.

Our symposium will follow featuring a panel of distinguished speakers from around the globe addressing a spectrum of solutions to the plastic emergency. There will be artwork on display from a student competition entitled Junk Battle and more.

To wrap up the exciting event series, come to our Closing Party. There will be a trash Virtual Reality experience and live music played on instruments crafted from detritus.
