The Universal Sea – Call for Artists

The open call for artists is officially launched! Get your tools ready and set your imagination free: We are seeking out for artworks and projects which deal with water in the Anthropocene’s context contributing to our projects theme “The Universal Sea – Pure or Plastic”. The open call runs until 31st December 2017.

Framing for the Open Call

Based on the conceptual framework of Beuys’ social sculpture, we are especially looking for artists that are interested in engaging with the public audience, while working on their individual artistic creation. „The Universal Sea: Pure or Plastic?!” aims at strengthening creative civil participation through art, now and for the future. It’s about reaching out to people and to stimulate their necessity to take action! Art has the power to question and rethink existing systems by making thought processes visible and physically tangible. Does your artwork or project add a captivating angle to this framing? Then we can’t wait to see your application!

What is in for you?

By applying to the open call for artists you get the chance to:

  1. Show your work in an international exhibition in a museum in Oronsko, Poland.
  2. Win an Artist Residency including mentoring by experts.
  3. Get a budget of 5.000 Euro for your extended art production.
  4. Show your final artwork at The Universal Sea Festival in Budapest, Hungary.
  5. Be published in the official The Universal Sea Book.

You contribute to a global purpose with your work and show that art can be a catalyst for change. Your choice, your action!
