Title:
Seascape in the year 2016

Author:
Klaus Busch

Category:
RE-act

Description:
The original of the "Seascape in the year 2016" is a 106 x 60 cm painting made by me with pastels in 2016. The idea for the painting was born on a visit to the "Maritime Museum" in Hamburg. Located there is large wall covered with seascapes from different epochs showing mainly an impressive technical and artistic quality. However, regarding these artworks my thought was that they are idealizing the sea too much - at least in its current condition in our today's industrial world. Our so unique oceans and seas today are rather characterized by pollution and overfishing than by the seafarer's fantasies of vastness and freedom. This inspired me to a qiute own and special seascape which should illustrate the beauty of the seas on the one hand, but also its vulnerability caused by men's thoughtlessness and unscrupulousness on the other hand.
