Title:
Utopia of a Plastic Thermal Bath

Author:
veghzoltan

Description:
We would like to create a video installation which reflects on the plastic pollution of our natural water resources. There are several aquifers and thermal water sources in East Europe and Carpathian Basin. The video installation shows an utopian vision of Earth when already plastic replaces the water in thermal baths and water taps. These future prospects are ironic and grotesque. We fill a whole huge thermal bath pool with plastic bottles instead of water. And we see the happy and careless old and young people swimming among the plastic bottles like at a usual lido. They behave naturally, spend their free time in the plastic trash. It's a kind of fake documentary film. The water is present only in the soundtrack as babble what creates the lack of it much more. We would develop the concept of the short film during the residency program and then shoot it at a local thermal bath in Budapest. The video would be presented in the museum space. It's a deterrent fantasy about a possible future what faces the present with a problem what needs to be solved as soon as possible. Besides our video art project we would like to create a real art performance in the bath, and ask people and visitors to swim in it and enjoy.
