Title:
WHITE DEATH

Author:
ANTOANETA TICA

Description:
The work I present is a personal reaction after disastrous coral bleaching that happened 2016 and that has affected an important part of Great Barier Reef. The waste and specially the plastic waste had a negative role in this. Therefore I choose to created a garment from scraps and old material, usually discarded - plastic, cd-s, second hand clothes (most of them in syntetic fibers). By various transformation techniques of this materials, I realized many decorative elements with different shapes and textures. I have enriched a simple basis (which I used as a second skin) with this 3D pieces, all white, but with a hint of color, reminiscent of the natural color of corals. Model: Orquidia Coelho, Photo: Elle Borgward, courtesy of Wearable Art Mandurah
