Protecting the ocean is a global responsibility—vital for preserving marine ecosystems, supporting coastal livelihoods, and driving sustainable economic growth. For many nations, the ocean offers both natural heritage and significant economic opportunities.
The OECD estimates the ocean economy will exceed $3 trillion by 2030, ranking it among the world’s largest. It plays a key role in global trade, food security, renewable energy, and innovation in fields like medicine and agriculture.
Yet, this potential depends on strong international cooperation to combat pollution, overfishing, and climate-related threats like ocean acidification.
To accelerate this transition, the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF) will take place on June 7–8, 2025, at Grimaldi Forum, Monaco, as a special event of UNOC 2025, in partnership with the Principality of Monaco. By bringing together global experts, investors, and decision-makers, the Forum will promote sustainable investments, innovative solutions, and policy frameworks that support a regenerative, resilient ocean economy for future generations.
