The Universal Sea: Pure or Plastic?!” is an EU-funded art and innovation project under the umbrella of the Creative Europe program that looks to bring together a variety of perspectives, from art, science, and business, to raise awareness and generate new and innovative solutions to the scourge of plastic pollution.
The festival consists of artistic interventions from the finalists, chosen from a worldwide open call that generated over 250 applications. In addition, a fine selection of artistic proposals from the open calls together with artworks by Hungarian artists will be on display in exhibitions throughout the city. All interventions relate to the topic of plastic pollution, raising questions on the contemporary reliance on disposable plastics and their effects on our common environment.
The citywide event runs from 7 September until 7 November 2018. Art activities, exhibitions, public interventions, film screenings, a conference with talks and panels, a hackathon and happenings await you and will revolve around the core issues of our project.
So, come and join us in the fight against plastic pollution and meet us on the 4th of October for a hackathon, and o the and 5th of October for a conference and the opening of the exhibition at HybridArt Space.
