Description:
Makemoret collective is a surfwear collection made from self-made, biodegradable materials through techniques traditionally used in surfboard and sails production. These techniques are very common in the production of plastic products. The collection and the all-natural biomaterials aim to show that these plastic manufacturing techniques can apply to the production of biomaterials and plastic alternatives to create a variety of products. What was once a process that generates a surfboard can now create a garment. The Collective believes in DIY production of surfwear as an eco-friendly and cost-effective substitute to the harmful production of synthetic materials used in aquatic leisure and performance wear manufacturing. The materials and manufacturing techniques were translated into a DIY practice, which is available on the Makemoret Collective online open-source platform. The platform allows makers and craftsmen to exchange biomaterial and manufacturing knowledge in the form of tutorials and workshops. www.makemoretcollective.com.
