On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the Ocean Future Lab at the Ozeaneum – German Oceanographic Museum Stralsund invited to co-creation and dialogue on the controversial topic “How do we want to live with the seas?”. After a guided tour with the curator Dr. Dorit Liebers-Helbig, four groups of interested citizens and experts from science, innovation and art collaboratively developed positive future scenarios in relation to mediation and cooperation with science. In concluding short speeches, the groups together with their moderators, presented their narratives, value-sets and scenes. The Ocean Future Lab aggregates the results of the future prototyping workshops as impulses; selected narratives are artistically visualized in order to involve a broader public in the dialogue. The future prototyping method was developed by the Institute for Art and Innovation in collaboration with the Film University Babelsberg.
This was followed by an event from the “Controversial Science” series, which was opened by dancers from the PerformDance association in Stralsund. At the following fishbowl panel, moderated by Fritz Habekuß (Die ZEIT), the journalist Ann-Katrin Schröder from the art project TAINTEDoceanLOVE, the biologist and WWF department head for marine protection Heike Vesper and the director of the German Oceanographic Museum Prof. Dr. Burkard Baschek among the full-size 1:1 giants of the sea, replicas of whales.

Am Dienstag, 31. Mai 2022, lud das Ozeaneum / Deutsches Meeresmuseums Stralsund zu Co-Kreation und Dialog rund um das kontroverse Thema „Wie wollen wir mit den Meeren leben?“ ein. Nach einer Führung mit der Kuratorin Dr. Dorit Liebers-Helbig entwickelten vier Gruppen aus interessierten Bürger:innen sowie Expert:innen aus Wissenschaft, Innovation und Kunst gemeinsam positive Zukunftsszenarien in Bezug auf Vermittlung und Kooperation mit der Wissenschaft. In abschließenden Kurzvorträgen stellten die Gruppen zusammen mit ihren Moderator:innen ihre Narrative, Wertvorstellungen und co-kreierten Szenen vor. Das Ocean Future Lab aggregiert die Ergebnisse der Future-Prototyping-Workshops als Impulse; ausgewählte Narrative werden künstlerisch visualisiert, um ein breiteres Publikum in den Dialog einzubeziehen. Das Future-Prototyping-Verfahren wurde vom Institute for Art and Innovation in Zusammenarbeit mit der Filmuniversität Babelsberg entwickelt.
Im Anschluss folgte eine Veranstaltung aus der Reihe „Wissenschaft kontrovers“, die von Tänzer:innen des Stralsunder Vereins PerformDance eröffnet wurde. Auf dem folgenden Fishbowl-Panel, moderiert von Fritz Habekuß (Die ZEIT), diskutierten die Journalistin Ann-Katrin Schröder vom Kunstprojekt TAINTEDoceanLOVE, die Biologin und WWF-Fachbereichsleiterin für Meeresschutz Heike Vesper sowie der Direktor des Deutschen Meeresmuseums Prof. Dr. Burkard Baschek unter den originalgroßen 1:1 Riesen der Meere.
