Title:
Absent Histories- Orange, Blue, Black, and Grey

Author:
Steve McPherson

Description:
Unaltered marine plastic objects found on the UK coast, 1994-2017 Each artwork Approx. 60x60x5cm. Mounted in a white wood box frame I propose to show a selection from my continuing series of found marine plastic colour fields. Wave worn, sun bleached and scarred these plastic objects are collated only by colour. However due to my colour blindness, anomalies are always present within the colour fields. These works engage through familiar objects combining to create an unfamiliar whole, where decreasing distance increases engagement and interest. On closer inspection, a dialogue between the view and work begins, where some of the objects acts as keys to lost memories, but all present questions as to their origins, loss, and of recent location. Please note – the artworks shown in the proposal may not be the versions delivered for exhibition, but size and colour choice will remain the same Orange, Blue, Black, and Grey
