We are proud that our Artist in Residence Robertina Šebjanič (SI) is also part of the Ars Electronica residency.
Together with Gjino Šutič (HR), she realized the project ‘aqua_forensic‘ for their festival. Finally, the exhibition is open to the public, and you should plan a visit between 6 and 10 September.
Robertina Šebjanič’s and her partner’s work intends to make the anthropogenic pollutants of the sea visible. In order to gather and handle information about harmful substances (which they call ‘invisible monsters’), the artists developed a practice-oriented research method consisting of a mixture of art, science, and a citizen-science-approach. Robertina and Gjino show how substances, like legal and illegal drugs, are getting into the rivers Danube and Adria in a very reflective way.
The central question for Robertina Šebjanič and Gjino Šutič is: ‘How do the oceans feel our impact?’.
Ars Electronica is a well-known annual event in Linz/Austria presenting creativity and innovation. By bringing together artists, society and technology it showcases a broad variety of artworks, innovative projects, and digital music.
